What is One8Weather?
A WordPress plugin suite that turns public NOAA/NWS weather data into individual fields, widgets, shortcodes, alerts, and radar maps you can design around.
Is the Core plugin free?
Yes. One8 Weather Data Fields is free on WordPress.org and provides current observations, location setup, the Elementor Weather Field widget, and the — shortcode.
Do premium add-ons require Core?
Yes. Forecast, Alerts, and Radar all require the free Core plugin.
Do I need Elementor or Elementor Pro?
No. Elementor is optional, and Elementor Pro is not required for One8Weather widgets. Without Elementor, use shortcodes through Gutenberg’s Shortcode block or anywhere WordPress processes shortcodes.
Does One8Weather have native support for other page builders?
Elementor is the supported visual-builder integration. Other builders may process WordPress shortcodes, but builder-specific behavior is not claimed or guaranteed.
Where does the weather data come from?
Current observations, forecasts, and alerts use public NOAA/National Weather Service services. Radar uses NOAA NEXRAD mosaics served by Iowa Environmental Mesonet with OpenStreetMap base tiles.
Is One8Weather affiliated with NOAA or the NWS?
No. One8Weather is an independent WordPress product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA or the National Weather Service.
Can I control the styling?
Yes. That is the point: combine individual fields, add your own markup and classes, or use Elementor’s typography, color, spacing, border, and responsive controls.
Does One8Weather include predesigned widgets?
It provides functional Elementor widgets and output, but it intentionally does not lock your project into a single finished weather-card design.
What is included in the Complete Package?
The free Core foundation plus premium Forecast, Alerts, and Radar add-ons. The current bundle is grandfathered, meaning it includes the products available in the bundle when purchased.
Can I buy add-ons separately?
Yes. Forecast is $19/year, Alerts is $19/year, and Radar is $29/year for the current single-site add-on plans.
How are licenses and payments handled?
Freemius handles checkout, payment, licensing, renewals, and license activation. One8Weather does not directly store card details.
Does One8Weather support multiple locations?
The current Core workflow is built around one configured latitude/longitude and selected station per WordPress installation. We do not currently advertise a multi-location manager.
What happens when NOAA/NWS data is unavailable?
Cached data and configurable fallback text help your layout fail gracefully. Radar falls back to a static layer when an animation frame is unavailable. Public services can still experience outages or gaps.
Can I rely on Alerts for emergency decisions?
No. Alerts are provided for informational display. Always follow official local authorities and emergency services.
Will One8Weather add more NOAA datasets?
The architecture may expand over time, but there is no published schedule. Use the feature-request form to share what would be useful without treating it as a release commitment.
